When the Five Lamps junction at the town end of Duffield Road was being considered there was a proposal (by the Council themselves) to make Duffield Road and Kedleston Road south of Broadway one way with traffic flowing south along Duffield Road and north along Kedleston Road. Reducing both roads to one car lane would free up space for dedicated, continuous bus and cycle lanes.
