149925Photo #149925When the Five Lamps junction at the town end of Duffield Road was being considered there was a proposal (by the Council themselves) to make Duffield Road and Kedleston Road south of Broadway one way with traffic flowing south along Duffield Road and north along Kedleston Road. Reducing both roads to one car lane would free up space for dedicated, continuous bus and cycle lanes.Cycleway:

147054Photo #147054Compared to the pavement on the opposite side of the road, the pavement is single file only. Cars are parked very closely to the curb but not at all on the other side. Bins are left in the road and elderly people and mothers with children often have to walk in the road. The traffic is very heavy and it is a just a matter of time before someone is injured or even killed. In these times of personal space being respected, it means even more danger.Track:

146332Photo #146332There are two lanes of traffic at the traffic lights, but these merge into one straight after the lights. This causes a huge buildup of traffic, particularly at rush hour. The left hand lane could be made into a cycle path instead, and this would also help to slow the traffic down.Cycleway:

145548Photo #145548Some people use our streets (Harrington Rd., Wade St., North St.) like race track. They do not care for limits of speed and people which walking here or live here. A lot of young drivers coming to shop on the corner and after they checking power of the car, revving the engine. Sometimes I saw big lorries which drow this roads and ofter was stuck on the corner. Often I feeling like my house is shaking and I have a lot of new cracks on walls.
Maybe it will be better if this road will be one way.

144938Photo #144938This is a busy pedestrian route for local residents, school children, and the elderly/seniors, mobility scooters. The Pavement is only 68cm wide and cars are a always parked on the road side, and when social distancing is required the only route is onto the road which is a high speed cut through/rat run of over 1550 vehicles a day which avoid the main traffic lights on the A5111. Residents Petition to close the road is being considered.
Solution is to stop cut through traffic by closing North Street/ Eastwood Drive at any point leaving it open to pedestrians and cycling.

129259Photo #129259The most straightforward route for staff cycling between RDH and LRCH is along Osmaston Road rather than London Road. Advantages are that it is a quieter road with less parked cars and a shorter route.
